Equipped for Beach House

Kimono: Cotton On
Top & Accessories: Secondhand
Pants: American Eagle
Shoes: Thrifted

Soooooo, I went to Beach House & The Walkmen last night.  My mind is quite blown.  All of the music was so ethereal and surreal.  I felt so whimsical in my crocheted top and pearly bobby pins.  All of which I found in my mother's closet.  Jesus, I can't keep myself out of there!

I went to the concert wit Adam, Forster, and Paisley.  It was such a splendid time.  Not to mention that Victoria Legrand is possibly my new style icon (I have a new one almost every day).
She is so loving and kind and HER VOICE...is pristine.  She sounds like a beautiful lavender cloud being danced upon by the starts.  She's great.  OH, and her hair is just fabulous.  I don't know how someone can be that fantabulous!  Also, The Walkmen were the bee's knees.  Hamilton Leithauser's voice is so unique.  I don't even know how to explain it!  But, their guitarist was my favorite.  His name is Paul Maroon.  He always has the same expression and looks so calm.  He stares the crowd down all the time.  It's awesome.  The way they dress is so awesome because it's like "business casual".  I've never seen a so called "indie" band dress in polos and nice suits.

P.S. Do you like my new shirt??

Sequined Earth

Shirt: Secondhand
Shorts: Forever 21
Glasses: Thrifted
Sandals: Urban Outfitters

Do you feel like a butterfly?  Hmm maybe it's just me.  I stole this shirt from my mama's closet because I wanted to feel floaty.  It totally did it's job.  Once I put this baby on, I decided I needed more floral print...I grabbed my shorts and my little girl flower barrettes.  Let me tell ya, I felt like a complete pastel hippie.

Since the last time I posted on here, I have read Weetzie Bat and Witch Baby.  Both are written by Francesca Lia Block.  They are the most beautiful books I have read in my entire life.  I felt as if I were in a pool filled with bubblegum, staring up at a aqua sky, wearing harlequin glasses, a lilac taffeta dress, and beaded moccasins.  Now, this is all happening as I am jamming out to The Beatles and licking a sunshine yellow lollipop.  If I were to recommend a book to anyone, it would be Weetzie Bat.  These pictures envelop my whole aura at the moment:

Speaking of my aura...it's just getting lighter and glittery-er!  Because....
1. I'm going to see Beach House & The Walkmen next week!
2. Rookie Road Trip is coming to my hometown
3. I made a pinhole lens (coming up in my next post)
4. I'm going to France soon!

Summer is good.

Dining in Style

After a splendid camping trip,  my parents, Adam, and I went to a little train car diner on the way back home.
Adam and Me!

As you can see, it's quite rad.  We got chocolate malts, potato wedges, and (of course) FRY SAUCE.  If you don't know what that is...well, you've obviously never been to Utah.  This diner is the absolute best and I feel like in in the 1950's.  To give you a little background, this diner is actually a real Streamline Moderne Art Deco Diner Car.  It started as a diner back in 1953 to 2006...it was called Tommy's Deluxe Diner:

Now it has been renovated, moved to Utah, and called Road Island Diner.  Literally, it's the coolest place ever.

So, as I was in this little heaven, I couldn't help but have sudden urges to find a swing dress  and turn up the jukebox as loud as possible.  Preferably listening to "Blue Suede Shoes" by Elvis Presley, and dance like a maniac.  My mood?:

Oh my god, I could just keep going.  If it weren't for all the sexism and racism, the 50s would be where I would want to be.  All the colors make me feel so happy.  The whole outlook on art after World War II seemed so refreshing and relaxed.  The slang that came out of this era is blast to hear.  Suburbia, poodle skirts, greasers, and ponytails were all born from this era.

Women like Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, and Elizabeth Taylor mesmerize me.  Their style. is. impecable.  Emulation to them, here I come!  Love, love, love!

What I would do to watch Dick Clark's American Bandstand!  Everything from this era was too aesthetically pleasing to be true!  So, listen to this, drink a chocolate malt, and dance my friends!

My New Hue

Here you go kids.  My room is looking spick and span with it’s new tone.  I believe I posted pictures of my old color a while back, but don’t even bother looking at it.  Imagine a lemon gets this lime and brings it back home.  They do hanky-panky and end up copulating.  Lime gets preggo and has little baby peace signs.  To sum it up?  NOT GOOD.  In fact, the garish colors made me anxious at all times.
To rid my anxiety, I decided to tone my walls down a bit hell of a lot.  To get precise the color is called “Niagra Falls”, what a fancy dancy name.  While painting, I listened to this 8tracks playlist, and wished I could put it on repeat for a lifetime.  It reminds me of the sky in Moonrise Kingdom:

When in all actuality, the color was inspired by gorgeous Juergen Teller Marc Jacobs ads.

Ta-dah!

 Shirt: Polo Ralph Lauren
Dress & Shoes: Thrifted

So, in admiration of this new hue, I raided my parents’ closet.  While looking though that (sometimes) dark abyss, I happened to come upon this pastel polo.  No, it’s not my mom’s.  I was expecting it to be a bit shorter, but hey, pajama length shirts work well too.  Not to mention, I felt a tad bit like Ebenezer Scrooge.
This dress and my peacock flats were finds at (yet another) thrift shop.  Oh, guess how much these shoes were.  No, really, guess!.........
ONE DOLLAR, MY FRIENDS.  Yeah, I bed yuh didn’t guess that.

Now, veering onto a whole new subject, I watched Tavi Gevinson’s TedxTeen talk today.  It’s so exquisite, and I don’t believe you have lived unless you see this.  She is the most eloquent/creatively minded person I’ve ever heard.  Watch. Now.

P.S. I'm going camping tomorrow!
